Scouting Family:
We’ve been reflecting and evaluating who we are as we emerge from two historic periods. Scouting is at a crossroads between its historic legacy and trailblazing future, as many of you know and are seeing in our Scouting activities.
For that reason, leaders from across the Council are currently working on a new strategic plan that will guide us for the next few years- focused on membership, volunteers, program, money and marketing. We will have more to share on that in early 2024.
To best serve you and blaze our trail forward, we must reshape how we organize our staff and volunteers. That’s why we’re re-aligning our districts to serve our Scouts, volunteers, and communities better. Beginning in early 2024, we will operate with three districts plus Togo West supporting ScoutReach. Our existing districts have served the Council well for the past 25 years, but we’ve seen shifts in our membership, volunteer activities and programs that necessitate realigning them.
They will be structured as so:
- The communities of Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Georgetown, Easton, New Fairfield, Monroe, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Trumbull, Sandy Hook, and Sherman. Together, they will serve 1,702 Scouts in 60 units.
- The communities of Bridgeport, Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stratford, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. Together, they will serve 1,843 Scouts in 61 units.
- Quinnipiac District which includes the communities of Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, North Branford, New Haven, North Haven, Orange, Southington, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge. Together, they will serve 1,555 Scouts in 77 units.
