THE 2024 Sr. CUB OUTDOOR READINESS EVENT (SCORE) WILL BE AT HOYT SCOUT RESERVATION IN REDDING, CT SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 14 STARTING AT 8 AM.

This event is designed to offer the opportunity for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts to complete several adventure loops over the course of the event including for Webelos: Webelos Walkabout, Math on the Trail, Tech on the Trail, Chef’s Knife, Let’s Go Camping Webelos. For Arrow of Light scouts, you will earn High Tech Outdoors, Into the Woods, Knife Safety, First Aid, and Outdoor Adventurer.

The event will begin Saturday morning and scouts will rotate through stations as they work to complete the five adventures over the course of the day on Saturday.  On Saturday evening scouts will participate in a closing campfire program with the Scouts BSA participants of the Aquila Fall Camporee.  Scouts and their families will have the option to spend the night at camp on Saturday night. Arrow of Light Scouts will have the option to camp on Saturday night with a local troop participating in the Camporee.  All others will camp at their own campsite. More detailed information about the event can be found in this year’s Leader and Parent Guide.

All meals and snacks are the responsibility of the Scouts and their parents.  If you plan on camping out on Saturday night, you will also need to bring your own tent and sleeping gear.  The guide to safe scouting will need to be followed, so adults can only share a tent with a youth that is a member of their family.

Registration begins at 8:00 AM and the program will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday and will finish after breakfast on Sunday.

The cost of the event is $25 per Scout.  All attendees will receive an event patch. All scouts must be accompanied by an adult partner.  We know childcare can be an issue for event attendance, so siblings are welcome to come to the event as well.  However, there will be a 2 mile hike as part of the event, so please be prepared to have them hike along with the rest of the participants.

Set your GPS for 288 Simpaug Turnpike, Redding, CT 06896. There is no visible sign for the camp from the road, but the entrance is next to a red, white and blue mailbox. Be prepared to carry all your gear to the camping area if you plan on camping overnight. No cars will be allowed in the campsite area.
