N.R.A. Shotgun Instructor Training Courses
Basics of Shotgun Shooting (Prerequisite): May 7, 2022
Basic Instructor Training and Pre-Qualification: September 10, 2022
Shotgun Instructor Training: September 23-24, 2022
All held at Camp Sequassen
The Connecticut Yankee Council is hosting the NRA courses necessary to certify interested Scouters as NRA Shotgun Shooting Instructors. A Scouter completing these courses will be qualified to serve as an instructor on the Connecticut Yankee Council camps’ Shotgun ranges at weekend and summer camp activities and as a merit badge counselor for Shotgun shooting.
Who: The NRA classes are open to Connecticut Yankee Council Scout leaders and others interested in teaching youths the basics of the shooting sports. Experience with shotgun shooting is strongly recommended.
Participants must:
- be 21 years old or older
- have successfully completed the NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting Course (included for those who need it)
Where: All course sessions will be held at Camp Sequassen, 791 West Hill Rd., New Hartford, Connecticut.
When (all courses must be successfully completed to qualify for instructor certification, registration includes all the following courses/dates):
NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting – Saturday, May 7th 7:30am-6pm
Basic Instructor Training and Pre-Qualification – Saturday, Sept 10th 8:30am – 6pm
Shotgun Instructor Training – Friday, Sept 23rd 8pm – 10pm and Saturday Sept 24th 7am – 5:30pm
Cost: The cost for these courses is $300 (Includes Basics of Shotgun Shooting) or $200 for those who have already completed the Basics of Shotgun Shooting Course. This cost includes all training materials, shooting supplies, NRA materials, books etc. Please plan to bring your own bagged lunch for each session. Overnight accommodations will be available September 23-24 for those who wish to use them. Please notify us of your preference to stay overnight when registering.
