At Powder Horn, you “learn by doing” as you try each activity first-hand so you know how much fun your unitcan have. You’ll have fun outside learning from experts on how to arrange equipment, facilities, guides, instructors, and other aspects of outdoor fun for your unit.
Powder Horn is for Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scout, Cub Scout, Leaders and older youth leaders!
Powder Horn is open to all registered adult and youth leaders. Youth must be 14 or older and have completed NYLT.
Learning Objectives:
- Provide a robust outdoor program using a variety of resources.
- Identify local resources and consultants for high-adventure activities.
- Apply the health and safety requirements of the BSA to outdoor programs.
- Apply the rules and regulations of the BSA as they apply to outdoor programs.

Important Program Notes:
- The course runs three full days from Friday, September 30,2022 – Sunday, October 2, 2022
- Powder Horn is “challenge by choice”; this means no one has to participate in any activity which they may feel uncomfortable doing.
- In order to earn the Powder Horn medal, the participant must complete at least 10 course sessions.
- Participant activities are subject to change based on weather conditions, and availability of qualified consultants.
Program Cost:
- Early bird rate now until ConnJam, ends on July 1, 2022: $245
- Regular rate: $265
- Late registration $280
*Program cost includes participant food for the weekend, course t-shirt, hat, and program materials.
